Our client is searching for an experienced Cloud / Platform Engineer to take ownership of how cloud and Kubernetes platforms are designed, built and operated from the ground up.

The team needs someone who has designed and implemented cloud platforms and Kubernetes environments themselves, not just used them.

You will be the go-to person for cloud and platform decisions, helping the organisation choose the right architecture, deployment approach and tooling for every new solution.

You will work closely with engineering, security and product teams to ensure that everything running in the cloud is scalable, secure, automated and production-ready.

• Design, build and operate Kubernetes clusters (AKS-based) on AWS infrastructure
• Own the AWS platform
• Build cloud environments from scratch using Terraform & Infrastructure as Code
• Design and implement deployment strategies for Kubernetes workloads
• Define standards, patterns and best practices for how cloud & Kubernetes are used
• Analyse different technical approaches and decide what architecture fits best
• Act as the cloud authority for development and product teams
• Ensure all environments are automated, reproducible and production-grade

This team does not want a cloud user, they want someone who has built platforms, not just consumed them.

What you bring

• Strong hands on AWS experience
• Proven experience running Kubernetes clusters on AWS (AKS-based or equivalent)
• Deep Terraform & Infrastructure as Code expertise
• Experience designing and deploying cloud & Kubernetes environments from scratch
• Strong understanding of deployment strategies, networking, scaling and security
• Ability to evaluate different architectures and choose the best solution
• Someone others come to when they have cloud or Kubernetes questions
