Principal DevOps Engineer
Description
Principal DevOps Engineer | Fast-Growth Fintech Leader
Are you a DevOps visionary who is tired of "tolerating" inefficient processes?
Our client, a fast-growth fintech business, is looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to move beyond surface-level tooling and take strategic ownership of their entire delivery ecosystem.
This isn't a "business as usual" role where you hand off your work to another team. They are looking for a true architect and "player-coach" who treats DevOps as a philosophy of end-to-end ownership, resilience, and systems thinking.
Responsibilities:
They need more than just someone who knows Terraform or Jenkins; they need a leader who understands how these services interconnect to create a secure, governed production environment.
Your Strategic Mandate:
- Architectural Influence: Lead discussions and guide technical teams on operational, technical, and procedural best practices.
- End-to-End Ownership: Establish and lead a group responsible for delivering growth, ensuring that teams own their services from build through to production.
- Build the Blueprint: Instead of just executing pipelines, you will architect a reusable standard CI/CD model with built-in quality gates, security, and self-service capabilities.
- Challenge the Status Quo: Evangelize a "push-button deploy" vision and proactively drive process automation to eliminate manual steps and inefficiencies.
- Cloud Governance: Move beyond surface-level cloud usage to support large-scale production deployments on platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, ensuring critical system security and performance.
Your Technical Depth
We are seeking an expert who thinks in terms of environment lifecycles and system resilience:
- Engineering Foundation: 8–10 years in software engineering with a deep understanding of OOP to ensure software is deployed reliably at scale.
- DevOps Leadership: 10+ years designing and implementing CI/CD solutions; you should be a thought leader who can define operational processes, not just follow them.
- Advanced Automation: Strong experience in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting (Python, Ruby) to drive enterprise-wide efficiency.
- Collaborative Delivery: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to partner with product, engineering, and security stakeholders to understand requirements and advocate for DevOps principles.
Why This Role is Different
You will have the support to master your craft and the authority to try new techniques in a merchant-first ecosystem that values radical value delivery.
