Description

About Drop Fitness

Drop Fitness is a technology-enabled fitness platform powering multi-location gyms, boutique studios, and consumer fitness brands. We build and operate our own internal software across memberships, scheduling, payments, analytics, and operations—and we migrate clients from legacy systems onto the Drop platform.

In addition to serving external clients, we operate our own luxury box gym in Montvale, NJ, which functions as a real-world testing environment for new product features and operational workflows. This dual perspective allows us to build practical, scalable tools grounded in real business needs.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team, working closely with our Quality Assurance and development teams to build and maintain robust, scalable infrastructure for our web and mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Kubernetes, cloud platforms (DigitalOcean and AWS), infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, version control with Git, and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions. You will play a critical role in ensuring high availability, performance, and security of our systems while streamlining deployment processes and supporting our development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Kubernetes Management:

  • Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters to support containerized applications in production and development environments.
  • Configure and maintain Kubernetes resources (e.g., Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps) to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for Kubernetes clusters using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.

Cloud Infrastructure (DigitalOcean and AWS):

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on DigitalOcean and AWS to support application workloads.
  • Optimize cloud resources for cost-efficiency, performance, and scalability (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, DigitalOcean Droplets, Managed Databases).
  • Implement security best practices, including IAM roles, VPC configurations, and firewall rules.

Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform:

  • Write and maintain Terraform scripts to provision and manage infrastructure across DigitalOcean and AWS.
  • Ensure infrastructure is reproducible, version-controlled, and documented using Terraform modules.
  • Automate infrastructure updates and rollbacks to minimize downtime and errors.

Version Control with Git:

  • Manage code and infrastructure repositories using Git, ensuring proper branching strategies and collaboration workflows.
  • Integrate Git with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
  • Support team members in resolving merge conflicts and maintaining clean repositories.

CI/CD Pipelines with Jenkins and GitHub Actions:

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Configure nightly builds and automated testing workflows to support quality assurance processes.
  • Optimize pipeline performance, reduce build times, and ensure reliable deployments to Kubernetes clusters.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with developers and Quality Automation Engineers to integrate CI/CD pipelines with automated testing frameworks.
  • Provide technical guidance on infrastructure best practices and troubleshoot deployment issues.
  • Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and runbooks for team reference.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or similar roles.
  • Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
  • Proven expertise in provisioning and managing infrastructure on DigitalOcean and AWS.
  • Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code.
  • Proficiency in Git for version control and repository management.
  • Extensive experience building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and GitHub Actions.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes concepts (e.g., Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, Helm).
  • Familiarity with DigitalOcean (Droplets, Managed Kubernetes, Databases) and AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation).
  • Proficiency in writing Terraform scripts and managing infrastructure state.
  • Experience with Git workflows (e.g., GitFlow, trunk-based development).
  • Expertise in configuring Jenkins pipelines and GitHub Actions workflows.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and logging solutions (e.g., ELK Stack, CloudWatch).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on automation, efficiency, and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with container orchestration tools beyond Kubernetes (e.g., Docker Swarm, Nomad).

• Knowledge of security practices for cloud infrastructure (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR compliance).

• Familiarity with additional CI/CD tools (e.g., CircleCI, GitLab CI).

• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks.

• Certification in Kubernetes (e.g., CKA, CKAD) or AWS (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).

Why Join Us?

• Work on cutting-edge infrastructure supporting innovative web and mobile applications.

• Collaborate with a talented team passionate about delivering scalable and reliable systems.

• Opportunities for growth and professional development in cloud and DevOps technologies.

• Competitive salary, benefits, and flexible work arrangements.
