Sky’s Group Networks is responsible for the architecture, design and planning of Sky’s Broadband, Mobile, Telephony networks and Cloud infrastructure. The directorate has initiated an internship programme seeking full-time interns, where the roles are available on a Fixed Term Contract basis for 12-months.
A range of pre- and post-graduate levels projects have been identified which tackle challenges within a Telecommunications context including networks, software development, agile implementation, business analysis, data engineering, cloud, devops, operations research, economics, analytics and statistics.
We’re looking for a hands-on DevOps & Python intern who can immediately contribute to production-grade workflows. This role is not for beginners.

Group Communications & Infrastructure

We’re the team that designs, builds, supports and maintains the telecoms networks across the whole Sky Group. Together, we help Sky broadband, mobile and TV enter new markets by creating a single and secure infrastructure for the amazing content and services that keep our customers coming back for more.

What You’ll Do
- Support the team with the migration of repositories from GitLab to GitHub, helping to ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to existing ways of working.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, supporting automated build, test, and release activities.
- Work on Python and Django-based applications, delivering small enhancements, resolving issues, and supporting ongoing improvement of existing services.
- Help embed best‑practice release and version management approaches, including documentation and release notes.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across Group Networks, sharing knowledge and learning from experienced team members.
- Hands-on experience with Python and backend development, ideally including Django or similar frameworks.
- Good working knowledge of version control using Git, with experience in GitHub, GitLab, or comparable platforms.
- Experience supporting or working with CI/CD pipelines and automated workflows.
- Understanding of containerised applications, with experience using Docker or similar tools.
- Familiarity with automated testing and basic code‑quality tooling.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with the ability to communicate clearly and learn quickly in a fast‑paced technical environment.
