Description
Hoylu is a leader in visual collaboration solutions for distributed teams, with an Engineering HQ in Europe. Our platform enables teams worldwide to plan, collaborate, and execute complex work in real time.
We are looking for a Platform Engineer to help design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure and platform services that power Hoylu’s core SaaS product. You will work closely with experienced Platform and Product Engineers and have a meaningful influence on our technical direction, architecture, and engineering standards.
Location:
Remote (Canada)
We collaborate across European and North American time zones.
What You'll Do:
- As a developer, design, build, and evolve Hoylu’s cloud infrastructure and platform tooling
- Develop and operate shared platform services that support our microservice architecture (e.g. networking, observability, CI/CD, container orchestration)
- Partner closely with product engineering teams to ensure services integrate reliably and run efficiently in our cloud environment
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Continuously improve system security, reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency
- Participate in incident response and on-call rotations
- Contribute to code reviews and technical design discussions
- Help define and promote best practices across the engineering organization
You'll Succeed With:
- 3+ years of experience as a developer working with platform, infrastructure, or automation systems
- Strong software engineering background, preferably with backend or service-oriented development
- Hands-on experience operating Linux systems at scale
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, shell scripting, cloud-init)
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps
- Familiarity with container orchestration platforms and microservice architectures
- Solid understanding of version control workflows (Git, branching, code reviews)
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently in a remote, international, and agile team
- Curiosity, ownership mindset, and a desire to continuously learn and improve
Nice to Haves:
Experience with some of the following:
- HashiCorp tools (Terraform, Consul, Vault, Nomad, Packer)
- Docker and container-based workflows
- Observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana)
- Web servers and networking (NGINX, Envoy)
- Databases, caches, and messaging systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ)
- Designing for resiliency, fault tolerance, and high availability
- Azure cost, security, and resource management
- Blue/green or canary deployments
- Immutable infrastructure patterns
- Distributed tracing and auditing in microservice systems
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
- High-impact ownership of core platform systems used by customers worldwide
- Strong engineering culture focused on quality, reliability and automation to target zero ops work
- Real platform work across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, microservices, and observability
- Team-first mindset, collaborating closely with product and platform engineers
- Remote-first team with experienced engineers across Europe and North America
