Description

The Role: Senior DevOps Engineer (Stealth & Series A/B)

1821 Talent Group is a direct placement firm representing a curated portfolio of high-growth technology startups in the Bay Area. We specialize in connecting "Ex-FAANG" caliber engineering talent with Series A and Series B companies solving complex problems in Cloud Infrastructure, Kubernetes Orchestration, and Developer Experience.

We are currently pipelining Senior and Staff Engineers for multiple active searches with well-funded engineering teams.

The Opportunity Most engineers leave Big Tech for startups to find two things: Impact and Ownership. The roles we represent offer both. You will move away from maintenance work and incremental updates to focus on 0-to-1 builds, architectural scaling, and owning the "pave the road" platform strategy.

What We Are Looking For We focus on the "Signal," not the noise. We are looking for engineers who have shipped production code at scale and understand the trade-offs in distributed system design.

  • Experience: 5+ years of DevOps/SRE experience, ideally within high-scale environments or technically rigorous startups.
  • Technical Stack: Deep proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible), Container Orchestration (Kubernetes/Helm), and Cloud Providers (AWS/GCP).
  • System Design: Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines, observability (Prometheus/Grafana), and security best practices.
  • Domain Knowledge: Bonus points for experience in ML Ops, Data Engineering pipelines, or heavy automation scripting (Go/Python).

Why Work With 1821 Talent Group?

  • Zero Noise: We are not a volume agency. We only present opportunities that match your specific technical bar and career goals.
  • Direct Access: We work directly with Founders and VPs of Engineering, ensuring your profile skips the "resume black hole."
  • Calibration: Founded by an Ex-Meta and Google sourcing leader, we understand the difference between a "good" engineer and a "great" one, and we advocate for your value accordingly.

Next Steps If you are open to exploring the startup landscape but want to ensure you land in a high-signal engineering culture, apply here. We will review your profile and reach out for a calibration call if there is a match with our current portfolio.

Compensation: $180k–$230k Base Salary + Significant Early-Stage Equity Package. (Ranges vary based on Seniority and Series Stage of the client partner).
